‘GVM 926’ is a unique Mercury Eight Estate car that toured with the 8th Army in WW2, has a history of personal links with legendary names such as Sir Malcolm Campbell, George Formby and Field Marshall Montgomery.

Campbell used it as a crew bus for his Bluebird racing attempts and later sold it on to George Formby who in 1943 modified it for desert work, prior to departing for Italy, Malta and several other middle east countries, to entertain 750,000 troops. He entertained Montgomery on one of his trips in the vehicle. After the war he sold it to Earl Peel of Lancaster, who used it for grouse shooting parties post war.

It is believed to have a sale value of between £25,000 to £35,000. The next H&H Classics at IWM Duxford is on 14th April 2021.
